Aloha!

Jeff Olson worked closely with the owner of this home and the San Francisco based architectural and design team, Nahemow/Rivera, to create a Hawaiian paradise in Walnut Creek.

This was a first for J.E.O. Construction as it was a Green Built project. Great care was taken to use natural materials and energy saving products.

The three bedroom, two bath house was gutted to the bare studs. The master bath shower floor was lowered four inches and a ten inch raindrop shower head was recessed into the ceiling to create a tropical feeling. All new insulation made from recycled denim provided above average R-value. The entire house was sheet-rocked using blue-board and finished off with a natural Venetian plaster; bathrooms included. Skylights and larger windows were installed in the bathrooms to create an outdoor feeling.

All of the windows in the house were enlarged and Loewen windows were installed. The windows are all picture windows that operate as awnings that can flip inside out.

A radiant heat flooring system was installed, powered by a tankless water-heater which also supplies heat for the rest of the house. A whole house fan was installed for cooling; which works well with the giant awning windows. Loewen french doors were installed and stained along with the windows to blend in with the mahogany cabinets and solid mahogany interior doors.

The entire house was done with five inch plank Brazilian tiger-wood flooring; except the bathrooms which were floored with a natural stone. Kitchen counter-tops, bathroom vanities, tub surround and fireplace surround were all done in a breathtaking limestone which blends with the Venetian finish.

All Miele appliances and stainless steel finishes provide a sleek undertone. A Wellness water purification system was also installed.

The roof is completely done in copper as well as all gutters and downspouts. A solid mahogany garage door was installed with the Venetian finish in the garage, as well.

This was an amazing project and really showed the attention to detail J.E.O. Construction prides itself on.
